About Memory Match
Memory Match — also known as Concentration or Pairs — is the classic card-flipping game that exercises short-term memory. Sixteen cards hide eight matching pairs; find them all in as few moves as possible.
How to Play Memory Match
- 1Tap any face-down card to flip it over.
- 2Flip a second card — if it matches the first, the pair stays revealed.
- 3If they differ, both flip back after a moment. Remember what you saw!
- 4Match all eight pairs to win; fewer moves means a higher score.
Tips & Strategy
- ◆Open new cards in a fixed scanning order so their positions are easier to encode.
- ◆When a flip misses, say the card's position to yourself — verbalising strengthens recall.
- ◆Prioritise pairs you have already half-seen before exploring unknown cards.
- ◆Group the board mentally into quadrants; remembering "top-left rocket" beats remembering "card #3".
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the score calculated?
You earn 100 points per matched pair, minus a small penalty for every move taken, so efficient memory play directly raises your score.
Is Memory Match good brain training?
It genuinely exercises visuospatial working memory — the same faculty you use to remember where you left your keys.
What is a perfect game?
Eight pairs in under 14 moves is elite; a theoretical perfect game with flawless recall is possible in as few as 8–12 moves depending on luck.
